Michigan Silver Jackets

About

The Michigan Silver Jackets Team is an interagency team dedicated to creating a collaborative environment to bring together Federal, State, local, and other stakeholders to develop and implement solutions to natural hazards and mitigation by combining available agency resources, which include funding, programs, and technical expertise. The Michigan Silver Jackets Team has been functioning for years, but a team charter was formalized in 2016.

Vision

To create, maintain, and integrate comprehensive partnerships and sustainable solutions to reduce risk associated with flooding and other natural hazards in Michigan.

Goals

  • Maintain and strengthen the Michigan Silver Jackets Team.
  • Build and support Michigan's capacity and commitment to continuously become less vulnerable to flood events and other natural hazards.
  • Improve coordination and communication with other relevant entities.
  • Increase understanding, support and demand to reduce the risk of flooding and natural hazards statewide through hazard mitigation, emergency management, floodplain management and resource management.
